Scrollbars — Check out Thorsten's plea for decent scrollbars on websites. My hope is that one day designers will take this into account! I keep getting annoyed by websites where the content window is too small, and scrolling is made more difficult than it needs to be.

Thinking out of the screen — Another thing that I always am tended to point out to designers is to include a design for what happens when the screen of a different size. What happens when the user has a wide screen? What happens if he has a very tall screen? How does the design look then?? I have seen too many times that a design looks good on paper, but abuses the screen area (by not using it) when it is displayed on a browser. Why this waste, I ask!

Sound on websites — the first thing I do is when I hear a sudden sound coming from a website is consider to close the website. In the instances where I am actually interested in the content, I quickly turn off the sound. I listen to my own music, not some commercial tune. Sound has it's uses, it may be cool for games etc. But it's not for regular websites. My tip for designers is to think if users really want it, and consider that 1234 times before actually putting the sound on the site.

Popups, commercials and other annoying stuff — I understand that websites have to get an income from somewhere. Banners, side bars, that's all fine with me. I can look around that. But please, stop with the popups and flash animations being layed across the text I want to read. You are likely to chase me away, instead of actually looking at the content of the commercial. And don't expect me to come back to your site.

Email

As I'm getting more and more spam, I'm starting to appreciate initialitves like Microsofts sponsored Sender ID technology.
